I've been reading on a few other paranormal teams websites recently that 'They do not allow the use of Ouija Boards on investigations.' This would be all well and good if the reason for this was that the boards are a complete waste of time and produce no evidence in the slightest, but the main reason seems to be that they deem them to be somewhat dangerous and want to protect their guests from evil entities.

I personally find this a bit odd that an 'investigation group' should; having come to the conclusion that Ouija do work and Evil spirits can come trough the board, opt to have nothing to do with them. Surely if they were that effective at producing evidence they should be embraced.

I say let's summon a demon first and then worry about getting rid of it later.

I agree, theres no evidence whatsoever of a ouija board summoning a demon.

Its all in the mind, I am quite happy to establish this fact.

My view the same ..

At it stands there is no hard evidence for the existence of ghosties .. spirits .. demons .. or anything of that ilk - so to rule something out under the context of it being "dangerous" is just silly. Who says?

As I mentioned last week to you - there are all these sets of "rules" and "shoulds / should nots". I personally don't want to waste my time following a set of "rules" in respect of something that might not actually exist. Wheres the fun in that?

If that means I end up as a bona-fide possession case - then brutal!! At least then we'll have something to study and investigate and would go someway to "proving" that these things do exist.

I'm glad we seem to be on the same wavelength. In my experience most people who quote all these 'rules' tend to be the sort who spout all sorts of wild declarations that they claim to be FACT and require no evidence to back it up.

On the flip side our friends in the scientific community do the same thing with regards to things that don't fit with established understanding.

Rules are meant to be broken, so let's break some!

Simple internet rule - any statement that ends with the word FACT is undeniably true. FACT!

I have my holy water in my bag Jay should your head start spinning and sprays of vomit emit more than usual. Tot agree, I have done ouija and glass divination over the years and only once with the glass did I get an indication it was an unpleasant spirit. Interestingly enough tho we tried the same glass in diff parts of the building and the same spirit seemed to come through...very easily dispatched back and no ill effects.

Did I mention I have been ordained by a USA church...so you can now call me the Reverend Abaddon should you wish....

I investigate on a regular basis with Haunted Southampton,we use boards all the time! The boards are always opened and shut down properly at the end of each sceance. A medium is always on hand if things seem to get a bit out of hand. I think they are a great tool in investigations and give so much information. My grandad regulary comunicates through the board and i believe he protects us. :o

what makes the board more dangerous than simply being in a haunted location?
The answer is nothing. Theres nothign special about the boards, we can make one from scrap paper.
Theres no such thing as correctly opening and closing the board, its entirely futile.
As for protection, why protect yourself from something you are trying to find? it defies all logic.

While I agree with Anth, but I do think that If people are happier with opening and shutting down a board 'properly' they there's no harm in it. I always said that the most danger that you are in from a Ouija is doing yourself some psychological damage. So if you are going to worry yourself stupid that you've summoned a demon or something and opening and shutting down a board 'properly' will negate those fears, then go for it.

Personaly i have during my life time used several boards and found them to have varying degrees of success the Gas board was best followed by electric and then of course the Coal board.i have little or no experience with ouija boards so i cannot really comment on them
