Surfed in looking for accounts from former RAF Thornaby and found your website with mention of the Thornaby Snooker Centre. Have added the Groups web address to the forthcoming book.

good to see another group is still going - so many have simply apparated away overnight.

Welcome to the forum Chris. NGI is indeed one of the longest running teams in the region and we're still going strong. I think it's due to us all having a deep interest in the subject as opposed to running it like a commercial enterprise.

What's your book about?

Hola, greetings from Billingham.

I lived in Thornaby for a few years, to be honest didnt hear much about the aerodrome. I heard about a couple of crashes, one in Middlesbrough, one in thornaby and the one at the airshow.

Many thanks for the welcomes.

shame you didn't get into the Snooker cenrter - sounds an interesting place.

aircraft crashes...another interesting venue...we have a Wellington site (1943) about a mile from us here....the woods which now cover the site (private of course) had a footpath through where birds didn't sing, dogs refused to go and horse baulked for no reason.

to my shame I have to admit that I never went there -one thing after another and I never got the time.

There's another Wellington crash site up near Westgate where the Farmer swears that he has seen at least one of the crew walking around at dusk.

so would it be possible for anyone to enter these woods at the end of the nights, would love to visit with a friend or two, or is it all closed off to public

I hope so

a quick trawl of the net reveals that many many previous sites have simply vanished within at most a 6 month period.....

there are seemingly very few places left to exchange ideas and information with similar minded and experienced people. Those that are left also seem to be "drying up"

its a very sad situation

Post subject:  Re: Greetings from Co Durham

naaa NGI will not be vanishing within 6 month, NGI been around since 2005?.

I guess the teams that fade away, are not 100% dedicated to the subject and it makes me sad the way that people believe they will make a living out of paranormal hunts. not really a hobby to make money from. also annoys me the way the teams that fade away are probably caught out for 'making things happen.' At least with NGI, if the night is dry and nothing happens, then thats the case, nothing happens

NGI been around since 2005?

that's why I hadn't found you all before - it was in my "I'm pissed off with eejeets playing at being investigators" period.

after 3 of my long term sites got taken off me by others offering cash, I left this all behind and just concentrated on my airfields...it's only recently that I have been more interested once again - perhaps because the eejeets are falling by the wayside

One of my favourite hobbies is calling these "eejits" out. Usually get a good response and much merriment from the resulting fracas :D

ahhh the appalling practise of spirit baiting (how crass) becomes the more profitable spirit-hunter baiting (how fitting)

where's Acorah when you ACTUALLY need him...hmmmmmm
