Went to Barrowgate lodge again in the lake district to try and see if I could get any more pictures which would capture the spirit world. The first pic I took as you will see is very active with orbs, it was a still night with no rain at all. I was taking more pictures seconds straight after and I could not get the same picture. It was like I caught the spirit world by surprise by the first pic taken, then they went into hiding straight after as I was taking about 10 pics with nothing at all. What ya think???

I'm still not convinced that orbs are spirit.
It just seems that one one picture you captured the light reflecting back and in the others you didnt.

You should sign up for photobucket its much much easier.

orbs are rubbish just stray light reflecting off dust particles and becaus dust isnt round like alot of people think it is sometimes u get a reflection (orb) sometimes you dont, also im guessing it was taken on a compact camera? the problem with those is the flash is extremely close to the lens, the bigger bridge cameras / dslr cameras have the flash further away, there fore not capturing as many orb effects if any at all. i hardly capture anything at all on my camera. ive tested this theory myself in haunted locations and none haunted locations and get exactly the same results, my camera hardly gets anything, my girlfriends compact picks up loads of orbs.

i could go further in depth but dont want to bore you lol

That's ok Ian, we're pretty much all of the same opinion of orbs in NGI.

What gets me is when people say that 95% of 'orbs' are dust/moisture etc. but 5% are 'real'. They then go onto show you a 'real' one that in all honesty is exactly the same as the 'fake' ones they had just been poo pooing. If there are such a thing as genuine orbs I'm pretty sure they've got nothing to do with those capture on digital cameras.

well from the reasearch ive done (im a nerd when it comes to researcing orbs lol) there was hardly any photos of orbs before digital cameras

because digital cameras use a ccd which is less than half the size of a 35mm film to maintain picture qality they had to design lenses with increased resolution which because of this also increased the depth of field (DOF) which is why orbs are now very common place especially with normal home use compact cameras (which alot of investigators use)

and also because most compact cameras are designed for ease of use they adjust the settings themselves so if you take a picture outside they focus on something in the distance like a tree or fence or something like that lol becaue of the increased depth of field more orbs are visable, reduce that depth of field then less orbs are captured which is where dslr cameras come in because the camera operator sets all the parameters not the camera, anything inbetween the lens and the focus point is in effect out of focus so any reflecting light from dust / insects etc, is normally exagerated and blured therefore giving orbs, the other thing is some orbs have funny patterns in side of them like a cell which is caused by imperfections in the camera lens :D right ill shut up now lol

Photos of Orbs' were indeed few and far between and the early ones could often be put down to faults in the development process and the like.

There are records of people witnessing 'Orbs' with their naked eyes throughout paranormal history and I think once the 'Orb effect' started to show up on digital cameras people put 2 and 2 together and got 5.

Whether the Orbs that people see for themselves are paranormal or something to do with the human eye is still debatable though, so while I think modern Orb photos are a load balls, I do not think that this necessarily puts the Orb theory to rest.

Well at least you researched it which is a damn site more than most people do.

That's the fun and annoying thing about paranormal research, you get the answer to one thing and it throws up more questions.

cheers lol

just a side note lol it aint dust on the lens as anything on the lens or within the first few inches is that out of focus its actually invisible to the camera, photos like this are usually dust thats between camera lens and the distant focal point

A----[ -------- ] ----B

point a is the camera anything between point A and the first bracket is normally invisible to the camera as its that out of focus. (obviously this dosent work with solid objects like your hand lol) anything between the brackets is still out of focus as its before the focal point which is point B but the camera picks it up and as said earlier as light can reflect off certin parts of dust it picks it up as a blured light sorce or orbs. anything between point B and the last bracket is in focus as thats the focal point so any dust in that point it that in focus you dont normally detect it due to distance and size so the orbs normally only appear between the brackets.

bet your gettin sick of me goin on now  but when orbs are mentioned i just go off on one lol

go for it Ian. Nothing wrong with giving people the correct explanation.

even though scientificly its the correct explanation some people just believe that much, they refuse to beleive what they think is paranormal is just flaws caused by the enviroment and equipment.
