Can I start by saying that I don't like 'orb' pics, and I don't rate 'orb' pics in the slightest. I did find this photo that I took the other night at an NGI invo slightly more interesting than the norm though.

When I took the photo I thought that the 'orb' in the photo was being reflected in the mirror to the right. What I found interesting about this was that if it was dust close to the camera flash this would not happen.

On further examination deep in the bowels of the NGI labs alas this doesn't seem to be a reflection at all, as the 'orb' in the mirror can be seen to overlap the frame of the mirror is the second adjusted image.

So what I think we have here is two bits of dust that just happen to be lined up next to each other :(

When you take one of the 'orbs' and superimpose it onto the other they are almost an exact match though.

So just a coincidence of location connected dust .. ah bugger .. you almost re-ignited the old Orb debate .... but not to be!

Its Dust!!!

If spirits could transform themselve sinto little balls of light, they wouldnt need to leave faces in there!

Or faeces.....thats just my oppinion though.

I'm sure I found an explanation for orbs being a digital lens issue on a sony or panasonic website.

I think they're dust too to be honest.

What I find interesting though is how they turn up on photos around Mark and I when we say we are feeling a presence round us. If that presence is static then it will be dust, but then why do we suddenly get bursts of static. It's not the same 'shock' feeling that you get when you touch a metal clothes rail in a shop. It feels more like a tingle or a rush of adrenalin.

Here's a possible hypothesis we could check: do we only see these type of orbs during the spring and summer months? I'm just wondering as those 'orbs' look somewhat like pollen spores or something similar. They could simply be dust, but the do look somewhat organic in structure, so we may find it useful to see if we can notice if there are any discernible patterns to these orb sightings.

It'd be damned difficult, you may happen upon the only spore of pollen in an entire building on 21st December. How would you know?

Dust is omnipresent, so I cant see how it could ever be discounted.

yeah theres so much stuff in the air... hence snot.

I suppose even Mildew has spores. I'm presuming this of course but its certainly something to try. We'd have to check pollen counts and take photos accordingly in the same location over a period of time but I suppose its doable.
It is interesting of course that we are completely discounting them being anything to do with 'spirit'. I wonder if we can try and encourage orbs to bite or something. Wait a minutes that'd just be a mosquito.

If orbs had hands we could trick them into doing rubiks cubes. If they can't do it then they're obviously dust. Theres an experiment for you, with rigid testing.

Has anyone ever taken a photo of an orb near a rubiks cube I wonder? If they don't want to fiddle with one of those there either not human, or when they were alive had no curiosity and playfulness. We could also test their sexual preference by leaving jazz mags lying around at an invo, I bet they haven't had any nookie for a while. They'll be gagging for a sly look at even a copy of Razzle after all those years of meandering alone in corridors. Until an orb turns up near a rubiks cube or a jazz mag on a photo I think we can safely say that they're dust. QED

DEBUNKED (through rigid scientific logic LOL)

In fact we should try the jazz mag thing at The Studio. I bet his majesty there will soon get active if we bring porn into his church.

I had a rubiks cube for years back in the 80's, couldn't be bothered doing anything with it though so I'd be dubious as to the validity of any experiment involving them.

Jazz mags on the other hand.....

if we set up 'mousetrap' and leave it in a location an orb would surely want to play with that... surely holding back a little shove on the first boobytrap is too much for anyone to handle.

I'll be in another location slathering at the mouth to set it off myself. Its the little bloke that dives into the bathtub that I like. Rubbish game, my sister and I only used to get it out so we could set it off, if we played the game twice that must have been it. Probably cos she couldn't cheat on it, I thought she was excellent at Monopoly until I was old enoughto realise that there was a reason why she was in charge of the bank and dealing all the cards out. I should have had tested for performance enhancing drugs before every game.

On a more serious note I think bringing recognisable objects on an investigation is a good idea just to see if we can capture footage or photos round them. Does it have to be an historic object, I think given a chance to see something from the future rather an old boot would make me want to hang around it. Toys are always good, bright colourful things that do something. Maybe we should bring kerplunk, as a trigger object, if sod all happens at least we can have a game. ou've got to love kerplunk.

We could test how sophisticated the orbs are by presenting a series of more complex items, games or toys to have a mess with, starting with something simple like Stickle Bricks though more advanced toys like Kerplunk then Simon or Big Trak.

Who wouldn't love to see it play Simon or send a Big Trak trundling across the room :D

We could almost start our own flea circus where dust spores drive around in clownmobiles and stuff custard pies in each others faces.... lets not forget the hilarity of having a bucket of water thrown over you only to find that its really full of glitter.

sophisticated dust this.

Hey Dr Phibes I bought Kerplunk for £8.99 at xmas for my friends kids. Go and get one... they've updated it by the way, it no longer looks like a lava lamp/ bong and has a spiral slide on it for the marbles.

Can we have them on a little trapeze too, no safety net for added 'oooh' factor. The grand finale could be having them all running about jumping through flaming hoops and high diving into a bowl of water with little splashes to show they've hit.

Pity Michael Bentine's not about.
