Why do teams that state that they don't use mediums on investigations use it as an excuse to say they are being more 'scientific', when there are scientists out there actively testing mediums to determine the reality of psi?

Well we certainly don't care about that.
Check out the Righteous Indignation Podcast No. 14 if anyone want to listen for themselves.

Altho I might not be the most impartial contributor here.....when science fails...what are you left with? Are we sensitives not sometimes right?

Case in question Dok...our night at the Studio in the upstairs room and your reaction/feeling before I said something was moving in and out of the door?

I've got to admit that I don't often feel changes in atmosphere, but I did feel a distinct change at the Studio, just before you said you had sensed something too. It was also felt by the other lad present as well, so I must admit it was very interesting.

Wearing my sceptical head for a moment, there could have been something non paranormal that caused the change in the atmosphere felt by all present, such as a heating system clicking on, but then again we could have been in the presence of a spook. I'd love to experience something like this again.

It's often said (especially by mediums) that there are quite a lot of fake mediums out there who give the genuine mediums a bad name. This may very well be the case, but how is your average non sensitive investigator supposed to tell the difference between a fake medium and a genuine one that is just having an off day?

Thats a good question you raise there Dok .. I'd love to know the numbers of who calls Mediums fake the most .. Sceptics or other mediums .. :D

Spoon fed 'mediums' always flash up the warning signs for me. Those who start off by mumbling some general info that my near deaf nana could come up with, then are encouraged by people who want to hear certain things.

I've met a lot of spoon fed folks in my time but I have also met a couple who point blank refused to be fed info until after their reading. Those types of mediums give me a bit more confidence in psychic abilities.

I've met all kinds of mediums through the course of NGI. The ones I tend to respect the most are the ones that I can have a good debate with without it turning nasty and the ones who don't feel I should take whatever they say as gospel. The couple with have on the team at present fit both of these criteria.

Oh yeah, definitely defensiveness sets alarm bells ringing... genuine psychics would have nothing to hide and would therefore remain open to debate :)

I'd quite like to expand my own horizons psychically as I tend to get strange thoughts about events that later come to pass, but I've never gone down that road...and as we're on the subject true gifted mediums are probably harder to find than frauds - so who can you trust to be a good enough teacher?

Quite the dilemma.

Well said Dok...."slip you the tenner later"

From my perspective I am more than happy, as NGI can confirm, to say that I'm getting nothing from a location whether it be a guest night or team invo.

Mediums that fill the silence with a load of garbage just to keep things going get my goat. We at NGI have always followed the process of keeping sensitives in the dark..even to the extent of having a separate medium free part of the team website which we cannot access.

I was following a similar vein on the new website... after watching most haunted its evident that the crew knew where they were going on each occasion and as most locations are steeped in history, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to dig up a few facts and build on them in a way that can appear as a psychic revelation. Keeping at least one person in the dark is definitely something I'd approve of simply for comparing notes and for genuine psychic links to places..

That's a good way to test them, just like one psychic told me what my cat looked like when I had never mentioned him, nor put up a photo of him anywhere on that forum that we were on, among many other things she got right.

Ones that can be shown a photo and give you an accurate description of the kind of activity that goes on that matches your investigation without you telling them anything about it confirms their ability, if you ask me.
