Just to share with you guys what some of our Asians do believe here about death. :)
It is believe in some of our traditional culture, that when a person died, he/she will not know immediately what had happened to him/her. Instead he/she will start a endless walking journey in a strange land. And it is also believe that after three & a half day of walking, he/she will reach a pond whereby he/she will start to clean up with the water after the long exhaustive walk. 8) This is the point where he/she notice that his/her reflection is not seen in the water, as such he/she will learnt that he/she have died. :( Thereafter, he/she will make a return walking journey of another three & a half day back to his/her home where he/she lived when still alive. :( The reason for doing so is to take a last look at his/her family & bid farewell to them. And he/she will returned as a spirit the 7th day. :o

As such, over here, the family of the deceased will usually prepare food, and may gather at home on the 7th day, believing the deceased will return back home on this night. There are even people who claimed that food were shifted slightly from the original position, appearance of very light footprints can be found on ground outside the house, etc... :)

Interesting story coldmoon. I love anything to do with leaving offerings for the deceased for some reason.

Just curious Coldmoon .. When you say "... that when a person died, he/she will not know immediately what had happened to him/her. Instead he/she will start a endless walking journey in a strange land. "

If everyone knows the story of what happens when someone dies as you've described - wouldn't the "endless walking journey in a strange land" be a bit of a giveaway?? 8)

This is what I find interesting about these types of stories .. they only seem to make sense to us, who haven't died and started the long walk ..

Sorry for the late response, Jay, as I was away.
As this is just a 'hear-say' kind of what the old folks believes in their culture, I too find it a bit of a misleading as well. Haha... In anyway, we usually just leave it as it is. :)

my grandma just before passing, said to my mother your "father's here", my mam said yeah he's here (meaning my grandad) she said no his father (meaning her father in law) who died years earlier

my friend had a near death experience a couple years ago, when he was hit by a train and lost his legs, he wasn't found for over a day. when the realization came to him that he was gonna die, he got comfortable and closed his eyes, then heard voices and whispers, he said when he opened them there was a bright light - that wasn't there. and his grandad came, the next thing he remembers was his mother and uncle finding him and being air lifted to hospital.

I believe there is definitly something after this life but its one of those unreachable mysteries, that you only really discover the full facts about once its actually happened Unfortunatly.

But maybe you do really get a glimpse during a near death experience, as you often read about. I couldn't really comment as it has never happened to me. My cousin died for a couple of minutes when he was a baby but was too young to remember anything.

I had an experience similar to a near death experience but Dunno whether I would call it a near death experience, I left my body when something traumatic was happening and I was looking down on what was going on, almost from a third person point of view, I was unable to feel my body, but I was able to feel the presence of loved ones who had passed over, although I couldn't see them phsyically, I knew they were there and can remember been told to go back. But for about a minute I had left my body and seemed to view things as if I had passed, which was strange.

this definetly happens Phantom Lady. through first hand experience with my nana she went in our home with her family and our grandad and great grandad were in the house leading up to it ( they went years before). she went bang on 4:00 am weird things happen my mam tells me that in most cases dying people mention seeing relatives or friends waiting for them. and people who didn't know they are dying who mention seeing relatives or friends usualy went within hours. she used to work with the elderly in homes for years and has some really gd experiences but then again theres also some bad ones.
our nana was dying of cancer but also had a fall and was stuck in norht tees hospital. my mam wanted her home and started seeing our great grandad in the front room waiting for her, my mam wanted to get her home so she wasn't alone but the doctors wouldnt let her leave due to her condition. but when the family explained and went down that we were taking her home they let her out. when we got her home she said that her dad and husband were there waiting for her and not long after she went.
eather people believe it or not, if you were loved by someone who has left before they will be waiting for you. it's a nice thought i think
