hey guys, i use cool edit pro 2.1 to edit my recordings, and im quite happy with that. the thing is when editing evp, we all get those
"shy" spirits that you can hardly make out, when amplified the hiss takes over too much and when clipped you loose the whisper, having to settle for a sample thats your not fully happy with.

another thing i would like to point out is, when im recording i use the high quality settings which although pick up more stuff seems to get much more fuzz. i'd be interested in hearing about peoples results using differing processes with recording and editing.

thanks j

I use this one, dunno how much better the hiss thing would be, I think it depends on the recorder you use

When I copy audio and mess about trying to clean it up I use SONAR Producer 8. OK its an expensive piece of kit, but I also do home recording so its something I already had.

The good thing about SONAR is that it uses VST plugins and comes with a brilliant effect called Boost11. This works like a compression and pre amp, it really brings forward those little noise you can pick up in the background.

My Voice recorder is the following:

The sound quality is excellent, very little hiss on it and the voices it caputures are crystal clear.
