Theres no actual indoor bit to Whorlton Castle .. a ruined keep and a few roofless cellars (?) outside .. still a good place to visit tho!

Only 10 minutes down the road from where I live - so wouldn't be any bother to me!

ive been here got a pic of the indoor second floor bit, you need to climb to get to the good places, my mam lived on the caravan site for a bit when she was younger and soposedly there was a tale to keep the kids from climbing on the top of the gatehouse . if you were walking around the top a man soposedly walked from the graveyard in black and got closer to the gatehouse and when he pointed at you he fell. a few people did fall off and my mams boyfriend at the time fell down one of the chimey holes and got stuck and had to be rescued. soposedly there is a secret tunnel going from the castle to the church incase of raids and that. two old men found it when they were boys it's all in the handbook you can find at the shop down the road. if anyone needs any help on getting up to the higher floors and the "wonbble room" theres a safe bit just to the left where you first enter.

i bet theres some spirits there. we went on a nite once but i was to scared to leave the car lol. has anyone found anything in investivations there?

didnt know the thing bout the man and the tunnel also, athough makes sense, excellent!

I've been there with people who've braved the xsecond floor but I havent had the urge to get up that way,me legs are just too damn short hehehe!Last time I was up there though someone had cut a hole in the metal grille on the accessible bit id the stairs, was tempted but too cold and icy at the time for us to be motivated enough hehehe!

Carol and I have had many a night up here and have had many interesting experiences, and met several canny people by chance who've told us lots of interesting things bout the place. We've had several 'experiences' but dont think any of them have been 'paranormal',although we always have fun there, its a canny place!

yea ive never seen or heard anything myself, its a good laugh though. and not to far away from sheeps wash. that place is spooky my uncle camped out there one night then they walked into the village and a bloke told them to " burn your fire bright and burn it all night" and spoked his mates saying there was witches up there and when they walked back they could see their tent ablaze with people dancing round it and chanting and all that. "TAXI!!!" they came back to our house early hours of the morning nearly crying in terror lol. hes a tough bloke as well hes well into fighting but he claimed you cant fight spirits i saw yong at the time so it scared me a bit but now thinking about it it was probabley the bloke who told them to keep there fire burning messing about lol

it was at sheeps wash just up the road its right near cod beck. my uncle was terrified lol. if you follow the main road through the village you get to a big bank and you just keep following it. its weird as at dusk the woods are dense as i wouldnt like being up there walking about on a nite lol
thats the only story i know from up there i think its awsome that it happend to my uncle. the lake beck things awsome as well. i'll ask my mam if she knows of anything else happening up there she used to live around there for a bit in the caravan

he may do its hard getting in contact with him though hes a right weirdo now, it would be an awsome place to investigate but on a night there will probabley be a few people camping out there getting up to no good with sexual activities and that lol. my mam mentioned theres an effigy (dunno how to spell it) of a knight in the chruch she thinks it may be a crusader knight burried there and the clock tower is still intact. you can see him if you look through the window laid down but thats all shes aware of, some of the graves round there are very old so it might be good trying there on a night to there is a farm just at the back which could give of lights/ sounds and that i'd definetly give it a go though. its not to far away to. oh also there is a bridge down the road which is linked to the knights templar which is on anothersite called hidden teesside. the whole area is packed with history!!

In winter I'd be suprised if there were people camping out too much, although on a weekend you usually bump into someone up at Whorlton castle, met some canny people up there and learned quite a bit regarding local stories bout the place from them,as well as thier experiences.I prefer the church to the castle funnily enough.

If your planning on going up coco giz a shout!

I think an NGI trek through the woods and a run down gatehouse is on the cards!
