Last night one of my team asked me a question about what happens to the energy in a lightning strike. (we were talking about energies)

I didnt know the answer and advised I would research it.....upon doing this I realised that in fact I did know the answer after all :S

Anyway here is my explanation in the hope the lady sees this thread.

When Lightning hits ground, soil for example, it superheats the soil, Silicon Dioxide in the soil transforms (Melts) into what is know as a fulguarite.

So the energy is dissapated into Heat, light and sound.

If it strikes water, it will cause heating of the water, but we would hardly notice this. The energy needed to heat for instance, a lake, to a point we could notice is a lot more than even a lightning strike can produce.

So to bring this back to the paranormal, when we die, our energy must disapate into the surrounding area. Perhaps another notch towards proving stone tape theory?
