Taking an interest in the local wildlife here in the dales I came across a report from a rambler of a 'big cat' print in the snow.

To my eyes it looks rather like the print of a dog but I'm no expert.
Not too far away there is also an anecdote of the Trollers Ghyll Barghest.

I realsie that this Barghests are traditionally thought of as being ghosts rather than animals but I'm also struck by the prevalence of similar stories across the rural areas of Yorkshire and Northumberland, which also seem to coincide with reports of 'big cats'.

I would be interested to learn what everyone here thinks of this...

Does anyone have any thoughts on a possible relationship?

Well one interesting thing about Barghests, some Big Cat sightings and also Birdmen is that they are oftn reported as having glowing red eyes. Some would claim that this points towards a more supernatural explanation for them. It may also account for why no bodies are ver found.

Whatever the real reason for the sightings, I suspect that in the case of big cats, and dogs to some extent, that there may very well two different types of phenomena. The first a real flesh and blood wild animal and the second something either supernatural of hallucinatory.
