Good website about all things cryptozoological...if thats your thing. Even if not, there has been an interesting local-ish sighting of 'bigfoot' in the past - who knows whether the whole bigfoot stories are just over active imaginations or people making it up? Or...real!

I tend to think stories of Bigfoot are imagination or mistaken identity. Somewhere like the US is a big place, I accept, with a lot of wilderness - but nigh on every inch has been trampled over, mapped, studied and researched and not a single shred of genuine evidence exists.

I could accept the weird and wonderful still existing unencountered say in the Amazon or the rain forests of Papua New Guinea, but I can't see it in the most technological advanced country in the world. I can take Big Cats in the UK because a Big Cat is plausible - but upright monkey men that seemingly show a level of intelligence and awareness, I can't pin my hat on that one.

I think there are a lot of strange "normal" beasties left to be discovered in the world as is - I watched that journey to the bottom of the sea with Hamster Hammond last night and some of the shit thats being discovered down there is crazy enough as it is - a snail made of metal for instance - go figure!!

Ooh Big Cats...I've seen a few...they are very interesting, as many people claim to have sighted them...

I do tend to agree with your assessment on the bigfoot :D It's not really believable, even if it does make you think..

I haven't read that book, but funnily enough did get an email from amazon recommeding that one a few weeks back.. I must have a read..

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look. Edit: I'll do a search next time...lol

btw..there is a good book about Big Cats that I read a couple of yearsago:

Mystery Big Cats - Merrily Harpur.

It attempts to find an answer for what they are, whether real or paranormal...

Yeah, I can take big cats - its not implausible for someone who had one as a pet thought one day "Shit - Tiddles is getting big - I'd best get rid .. " and released Tiddles into the wild.

And tiddles gets sighted...all true...

But...there have been far too many documented sightings for them all to be real. If they were all real, we would have one down every street the amount of sightings there are...well maybe not that many, but there would be more evidence, and there isn't much...a bit like looking for ghosts actually now I think of it...

What I'm trying to say is that she eventually concludes most of them to be paranormal - i.e not of this world. Make of that what you will...

I'm of the belief that Big Hairy Giants, Lake Monsters and Birdmen they are most likely to be zooform phenomena rather than actual flesh and blood.
