Sounds interesting but I'll sit this one out as Jay suggested.

No problem with me fairy. The only problem is that Jay has set the thread up in the NGI only area. Is there anything you can do about this Jay to let fairy in?

Hahah .. nah, its not closed doors .. just "the easiest doors to put it behind to save me a nightmare in setting up something" .. :D .. when it looked like it was just full-NGIers getting involved .. and not "part-timers" like yourself .. :D .. was just easier to stick it in the NGI chat ... check your pms tho .. (errm .. soon)

Just got round to reading about the 'Humphrey Experiment', very interesting. There's a few ideas in there that I would like to incorporate into our experiment. It is interesting that they did not get the same kind of phenomena as reported in the 'Philip Experiment'. As the 'Humphrey Experiment' was being conducted as part of a Psychology dissertation I wonder if they were coming at the thing from too much of a scientific angle. It is my opinion that if you are going to stand a chance of getting good results from this kind of thing, you've got to believe that it is possible 100%.

I respect your oppinion, but would you not find yourself asking why it needs beleivers to produce results in an experiment?

Would that not kind of defeat the object, yes you would have the results but they may not be based on fact.
E.g a believer enters a repotedly haunted building, feels a chill, says theres a spirit present. A sceptic enters the same building, feels the chill and says theres a draught present.

My understanding is that generally we use a temperature drop as an indication of spirit presence until we can find another cause for it. So is this a result or not?

I don't think it needs beleivers to produce results in an experiment, just in the case of an experiment such as this. If you are in effect trying to created a tulpa/thought form you have to believe in your creation, you have to be in no doubt that it can and will work. You are creating something by your force of will and anyone who is not behind it will hinder the experiment.

Of course, if the experiment starts to show positive results, this will cause more questions than answers.

think its simply a case of if you go out to draw a picture with the thoughts that you'll draw a shit one, you cant draw etcetcetc then chances are thats what you'll do.........same with riding a horse go out with the thoughts that you cant ride you'll fall off etcetcetc and thats probably the outcome you'll get.........

I dont think Marks saying we need to be believers in spirit or science or voodoo or gef the talking mongoose..........just believers in whoever it is we create ........ and I can go along with this

Exactly! It's easy to come across as sounding a bit squeaky floorboard with this kind of thing but it couldn't be less true. All that is required is to have belief in the concept of the experiment.

All the analyzing will come later.
