Because in all truth, they do believe, they are just questioning thier own sanity. they know there is something out there and just want to prove beyond reasonable doubt that there is, so the men in white coats dont come and cart them off.

I read a good opinion about Skeptics the other day. It said -

"Being Skeptical isn't about a belief system, it is merely a way of working".

I think this is very true.

I've yet to meet a sceptic that doesnt beleive in the paranormal.

What I have yet to meet is a sceptic that believes in ghosts.
Thats the answer Clare.

from my experience of skeptics, i find the ones who don't believe but shite themselves when in "haunted" places just too much to take!!

how can you be frightened of something that don't exist?

I've seen it work both ways, I've seen a medium shit themselves.

I think my comment was.....didnt see that coming did you?

Humans are anturaly afrais fo the dark, thats why all good horrors are set at night etc. We are edgy, we feel anxious. Its not about beleiving that seeing movement is a ghost, its much more likely the bloke who is alive and stood behind you with a big fucking axe is going to do more damage than the spirit of a dead person.

Why is it that skeptics often seem to come across as non-believers? A skeptic should just look at the 'evidence' they are presented with and question it, simple as that.
It's a good way of working and one we should all adhere to.

What usually happens with many people who term themselves skeptics, is that when something happens that is not easily explainable they will immediately put a label on it such as 'infrasound' ('cause they've read about it once and it sounds scientific) without actually looking into things further. I really think that a lot of skeptics just want to look like the clever scientific one of the group.

This kind of skeptic is just the same as the squeeky floorboader but at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Perhaps if you dont believe on ghosts, and you see movement where you know there are no team members, you jump because to you it means theres someone else there, someone you dont know creeping about in the dark.
Jumping does not necessarily mean you are scared, its a nervous reaction yes, but its when something unexpected happens.
People jump when a mobile phone goes off on an invo, we all know what it is, but you jump anyway.
Or when you are using Radios, and the other team give you a shout, it can make you jump because its unexpected.

wey i'm not afraid of the dark, i'm a believer and there have been a few occasions i have been "caught out" (ahem ) each time it's thinking i've heard something run behind me, i admit it made me jump and it wasn't a living person i expected to see. i remember once when gary from my group thought someone walked passed him and he shat himself (not literally) but this is the man who thinks ghosts don't exist - well in my opinion, thats just ghay! i just prey a spirit jumps on his back one day lol

not the fact he don't think ghosts exist... just the shatting himself when his coat rubbed his sleeve!!! wtf?

actually my mother told me on Sunday, why my dad don't believe.. he said "i don't want to believe because it frightens me" what an odd comment..

now this leads me to believe some skeptics are so scared of what we believe that they choose not to!!
