Hi Colin!

What got you interested in ghosthunting and the paranormal?
How did you make the transition from being interested to actively doing the investigations etc?
Whats your motivation/inspiration?

I was about eight years old when my great nana passed away.
I can always remember being told by my parents she will always be here with you.
That got me asking more questions like how can she be here when she has just been cremated? If she is here, why can't I see her?
My parents could not give me answers to these questions so I put it to the back of my mind.
It was when another relative died a few years on and the same words were said to me.
I was older then about 12, so out I went to the library got a few books and started reading them, Harry price and the like. My most horrifying read was of the Elmfield poltergeit, I s**t myself. ( I had to lie to the libraran say they were for a school project) it fascinated me.
I kept reading various books on the subject then probably exhausted myself with the subject as I basically got bored.
Then I was in a pub as you do when your 17 when the subject came up in convesation. A person said they had a ghost.
I went and had a look round with a a bit of paper and a pencil and a compass. Needless to say nothing happened.
Ive been doing ever since I suppose.
Obviously my techniqe has changed quite considerablly but I still have that compass

I still enjoy doing it as I stiill get the buzz from going into a place not knowing whats secrets are lying round the next corner.
I can't describe the feeling of the adrenalin pumping round my body, the excitment.
The most important thing really if I'm honest is the thought that I may be able to help someone who may be in distress.
I would love it to be proven beyond reasonable doubt that there is something there, to rub the noses of all the crtics out there, the ones who laughed at us, probably not in my lifetime though.
Then again if that was to happen, the amount of money that would be thrown at it by governments and the like, would drown us lot out and some doctor from outer Mongolia would take all the credit for all our hard work.
I still use the compass sometimes but not that often. I even sometimes use dowsing rods.
I have done a few investigations mainly domestic propertys, but gaining access to locations is hard. I keep trying though but most people just laugh, I have been called a witch at one point.

my oldest is coming up 16 (I was in know way a pillar of the society) I was a bit of a rogue.
The second one was born with a disabiltiy, she is 11 and then there is Benny 7 years old. He's a nightmare. Growing up where I grew up is sort of, Dog eat Dog. Well put it this way, I am a strong bloke, but this tink can get by me no problem at all (I'm scared of the little T**t) at some time.
It ain't the age, it's the way he is, until he grows out of it (which he will),
he will always be my baby.
He ain't spoilt they all are all treat the same. The only thing that seperates them is there age.
People who I speak to say that he is been here before, he knows the score.
This also drives me to do what I any many do, to examine the unknown.
Sorry for boring you with what lies beneath, but if I am not true to myself, why do the job I do.
Here this aint me speaking I don't think, I ain't into this sort of stuff.

The name Pikie came from my dad. Everyone from Darlo will know my dad.
He caught the biggest pike at the time and it was displayed in my local museum for many many years. Which anyone from Darlo will know.
I shouldn't reall call mysef Pikie, but PikieJnr.
As my dad p****d off when I was young, the name passed to me.
Benny, my boy ain't special in anyway. He is a little bugger who, I could strangle at times, but where we live, you have to grow up quick.
If you ain't streetwise then you need not go to the shop.
People a third of my age will threaten to knock seven bells out of you then your trash car if you won't get them a bottle of White Star.
I laugh at them, little a******es.
My boy won't end up like that as he has respect for people. apart from his parents.LOL
This is unfortunatly the sad world that we live in these days.

I am only 30 but I grew up with the belt and the slipper, Didn't do me no harm it made me into the person I am now, but it scared the buggery out of me.
I don't dicipline my kids that way.
I try and teach my kids right from wrong, they seem to be abiding.
If not, I agree with given them a harmless tap (better than a hit with a car). Trouble is, with the laws that are now in place for youngsters, they turn out like little b******s, thretening old people and people who cannot stick up for themselves. I can't ell folk what to do, but use your imaginations on this one.

i never had to hit my daughter exept once, when she was 14 she started hanging around with the chavs, drinking, swearing ect, i grabed hold of her in frount of her mates , put her across my knee and slapped her arse, i think the embarasment hurt her more , anyway she called the police on me, give them abuse when the coppers told her she deserved it, and ended up in a cell for 5 hours, she was a different person after that

My seven year old, is a thug for everyone else, he shows others no respect. But I think its because they treat him to childish, I always talk to him like an adult, as he's much more advanced than most 7 year olds, he's also quite interested in the paranormal, he likes to use my emf metre and stuff like that a lot and when he loses something, he usually tries to find it with my dowsing rods.

He hits people, teachers, his dad anyone who offends him, but I cant judge him cos I was the same at his age, for exactly the same reason. He has never hit me and hardley ever even plays up for me. At home he's treated like an adult, if he comes in late for a meal, he makes his own, He sorts the coke fire out at night before everyone goes to bed, cos i cant get down on my right knee.

But then we get toffee nosed teachers and social workers saying we dont let him be a child, (To which he usually replied he's not a bloody child)

He got sent home from school, because of one patronising teacher, she kept on talking to him like a three year old, saying he was "so sweet" and "Be a good boy" that kind of crap, pretty patronising, then she got all upset, when he did it back to her. (God I wish I'd been there, he went right up to her as and patted her on the head and said "Dont forget to be a good girl, miss".

Well if she's gonna treat him like that, she can at least expect it back.

I think youve got it hard pikie. In one way you dont want your children to be like that but then they have to know how hard the world is, and how to survive. Its a shit world sometimes especially for us parents.
I was lucky with my girls, theyve grown up in an area where there is very little violence or gang realated stuff, Newport is a very quiet town and far enough away from telford to stop chav's etc invading LOL
I grew up in peterborough and i wouldnt like my girls to have grown up there or in any big city.

Na the eldest of my brood aint into it. The middle one is well into it. If shes not watching about it, shes reading about it. She gets that excited she never shuts up. She'll be able to teach mr a few things about it in a couple of years.
