I'm going to be running a purge of the Private Messaging database shortly

Don't worry - I shouldn't be deleting anything recent .. ( I often say that and end up at the end saying "whoops" .. ) .. but there are Pms sitting there in the DB dating back 2 years (lapsed forum members and such). I'll probably be deleting anything older than 6 months ..

If you've got anything from before then that needs replying too  do it now!

Jay, even tho I know you would never read peoples PM's but I was wondering is it possible for admin/mods to read pm's? It seems as tho this prick on another forum has been reading my pm's.

Yep - entirely possible if the forum is hosted on the server .. some forums are offsite which (I'm guessing) they won't be able to. As you can see from the address bar up top - these forums are an extension of the NGI domain and therefore, hosted on the same server .. and readable by the server admin from the databases in the background .. note: SERVER ADMIN and not necessarilly the FORUM ADMIN or MODS- there is a difference .. only the person who has access to the databases (as far as I'm aware) - and will be just the server admin usually.

.. not that I'd know that for certain .... ermm .. really ..

Actually, sometimes it inevitable - the server admin will be messing in the databases from time to time and will inadvertantly read things that aren't supposed to be for them .. for instance, if someone puts a request in for a lost PM - the server admin could go in and look for it and then restore it - in cases like that its inevitable ..

But - is the choice there for the server admin to just go in and read stuff deliberately? Yep, entirely .. I just read your PM you sent telling the recipient how you like to dress in womens clothing .. sweet ..
