Sad indeed. It seems like a lot of music legends are popping their clogs of late.

I heard about Ronnie dying on Planet Rock, they reported that he'd had to cancel some concerts a few weeks before due to his bowel cancer, pancreatic I think it was, then the sad news came through about his death.

Ronnie had been in the music biz since the 50's, apparently he was doing Doo Wop stuff when he started, bit different to the stuff he was famous for.

Good Journey Ronnie.

Holy Diver you've been down to long in the midnight sea!

With a bit of look he'll get more popular in death like all the others. I wanted to see him at the manchester Academy but couldn't get down there and stay so. I can't remember if it was this year or just before Xmas.

Theres some great gigs on at the Academy but its a bastard to get down there and back, park and too expensive to stay over. It cost me about £120 to do it last time to see the Butthole Surfers.

Bad religion are on next month too.

On the rock/ metal theme theres a fantastic film on BBC 4 tomorrow night at 10pm. Anvil! The Story Of The Anvil... basically it's Spinal Tap for real and shouldn't be missed. It's extremely cringeworthy in places, very funny in others and heart breaking at other times. I just wish that I'd gone to see them at The Empire this year.

I don't remember them from the 80's but they were a massive influence on Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and weirdly Guns n Roses. But then Slash was in a Motorhead cover band called We Are the Road Crew from what I can gather, so that kind of makes sense. This film is awesome. Totally embarassing and utterly Spinal Tap. Turn it up to 11 and don't miss it, cos it's not an easy film to see.

The lead singers conversation with Michael Shenkler back stage at a Rock festival is just really embarrassing, 'Hey man, remember me. I was the guy that used to play the guitar with a dildo!'
Shenkler looks at him blankly and says, 'No.'.
God bless Anvil, I almost felt like buying their album from Itunes after seeing this film just to give them some money.
Then thought better of it.

I wish we could have gone to see them when they played her with Saxon last year, it was only a short while after we'd had that conversation about them outside the Platform Arts that day too.
