Coincidence?

I've not been online for quite some time as not been well but just checked in to Facebook and saw Heidi post that there was some important news here. First topic i see is this one.

The coincidence?
I was discussing this very subject with two Neurology specialists this morning! Not something I've even thought about in ages then two direct reference's to it in the same day. Looks like I may be lecturing to the psychiatrists and neurologists of the NE later this year but that's a different topic.

As with many of Penn's diatribes he has the basis of fact behind him but in making his comments fit his 'image' forgets the rationale of balance.

Near Death and Out of Body experiences ARE caused by known and demonstrable physical changes. People are not usually entering heaven or wherever. What he fails to acknowledge is the psychological processes as to why people believe that is the case.
The two should also be treated somewhat separately as there are accounts of Out of Body Experience which are at least superficially quite convincing. People on operating tables etc describing what went on around them whilst they were unconscious. These are probably explainable as a result of people actually being aware of their environment and getting the psychological hit but remaining, as far as medics are concerned, unconscious. Begs the question to me as to what is consciousness and how does it behave this way.

Not babes or what?
If she is a hairdresser and believes she can make others look good I'm inclined to have a few reservations... and not for bookings at her beauty parlour!
WHAT!!!

Anyway, enough of that... off to see if I can find what Heidi was referring to in case it is about the Acklam event.

ps. Happy New(ish) Year to you if I've not seen or chatted to you before.

pps. I used to have a budgie that barked at cats!

OBE I think is really an inner body experience, I've only experienced it through binaural rythmns that I MP3's and meditated to. I ended up having no greater an experience than floating over the wallpaper in the hall. It was very dull.
If its an external phenomenon why would you need to go internal first to allow yourself to get out of your body. Surely therefore you never leave your body but have a psychological experience instead that you think is an OBE.
In theory this could also explain all kinds of medium techniques or that all you are doing is a ritual to get you into a frame of mind.
Until we can all just drop our bodies and go and meet somewhere astrally my money is on OBE's being a mindstate.

agreed John.

Do you not think that 'life' as we experience it is a mindstate?
