Hello,Im new and this is my first post so please gan canny.

I visit the Keep a lot {mainly to take pictures from the roof}
I hope to visit during the night on one of the NGI visits in the future.

I was wondering if any experiences have been recorded during the daytime?
I find the Garrison room quite eerie even during the day.

Grateful for any replies.

Thankyou,

Steve.

Hi Steve, I've not been there in the day so cant really help you there!
When I have been on a night tho its the Mezzanine which I find the most constantly interesting......
Gotta say although I've heard all about the Garrison room this is the one room where I've experienced very little if anything at all on each visit.
Look forward to seeing you there in the future!

Gotta ask....why are you taking pictures from the roof (apart from the obvious stunning views)?
Ah....I get it...you want a good laugh....dont you get a good view of St James' from there hehehehe??!!!!!!

What experiences have you had here?
I dont believe that you have to go at night to get things,they just happen to be the only times that I've been there!

Hi Pollen {Thats some avatar,fantastic}

Recently bought my first digi camera and you know, a new brush.

I must have visited the Keep over 100 times in my life.
About 20 times in the last 3 month as I wanted lots of inside pictures to send to my mate in the states.

Ive seen the strange s shape photograph of light? on the main page.
Have you seen the little model rat in the pit room? :D

You get a canny picture of the Tyne bridge from the roof with the Sage behind.

I hope to see you too at a future investigation.

Thanks for your reply

Steve.

Hi Steve and welcome,

I've been to the Keep loads during the day as I love the place too. I wouldn't say I've had any expereinces as such but I do sense a change of atmosphere in certain rooms. Whether this is down to room dynamics etc I dont know, but it's a great place.

:D

I often go thru the day and its just as atmospheric as at night, The rat he's on about is the toy rat in the pit room, its not real, itsjust what they put as part of the dsplay as they shut that room off during the day and it gives people soething to look at its meant to look authentic.

We actually had quite a time in the pit room the other day with Steve from AITDE I had my fingers resting on this lack cloth hanging over the table and the whole thing was moving, it felt like someone was right next to me.

Ive often felt things during the day as thts when I do my course, the whole place is great night or day.

All the places claire. Garrison, Great Hall and chambers etc. All feel different but whether that is like I said room dynamics, psychological etc I dunno.

My experiences at the Keep?
Ive read a few chapters of George R.R. Martins "A Song of Ice and Fire"
Try desperately to get the TV info screens to work.
Shouting "Alanon" with my mate about 28 years ago.
Watching the trains enter and leave the central station.
Hoping like mad someone or something will walk out of one of the walls.

Steve.

Orange streaks/flashes of light do seem to be a commonly recorded phenomena at the Keep.

Pollen101, when you say "Mezzanine" do you mean the gallery?
Im not familiar with that word at the Keep.

Have you seen the film "The Keep" by Michael Mann?
Its not based on our keep but its a good eerie film.
Still not out on dvd. :(

The Mezzanine is the bit below the Queens Chamber, when you go down the stairs ..

You can see a floorplan here if you don't know where I mean ..

I see where you mean,Pollen101.

Thanks.

A distinct lack of fresh air makes this area seem very claustrophobic,have you found this?

I agree, it is definitely the smelliest part of the Keep.

I took these two photographs of the Mezzanine area today {25/10/08}
I used the flash in both photos.

The two objects at the back look like anchors.

The fact that the ceiling is white washed and the two bright spot lights made it feel quite pleasant down there.
It was daytime though. :wink:
