I believe Strongly in the following but im open to the fact that this explantion can not always be used for every Experience.

I and many other sceptics would say that the Ouija moves due to the "ideomotor effect" (sometimes called "automatism"). The ideomotor effect refers to the involuntary and unconscious motor behavior of a person.

The term "ideomotor action" was coined by William Carpenter in 1882 Which i have read a bit of his work and find it rather Interesting. In his explanation for the movements of dowsing rods and pendulums by dowsers, table turning by spirit mediums and, of course, the movement of pointers on Ouija boards.

Carpenter argued that muscular movement can be initiated by the mind independently of volition or emotions. We may not be aware of it, but suggestions can be made to the mind by others or by observations. Those suggestions can influence the mind and affect motor behavior. What is purely physiological, however, appears to some to be paranormal.

As i said above you cannot use his explantions for every single time.
Yes it is a old wives tale, I know someone who tried the board a few years back when they were younger nothing at all happened, yes the glass moved around on it but nothing more. People dont want to use it as they maybe just dont understand it. If it was for real and worked then no one would even need to put their fingers on the object to move as it would move itself. So I agree with what this guy says to a certain extent but like i said You cannot use his explantion for this all the time. Its like everything else people will believe what they want and that is upto them.
Personally i think it would be a good idea to try the board on Investigations with the owners permission of course, yes i admit i dont like using it, not cos i think a ghost is moving it but because of the stories passed down etc but that is my view and my right not to take part in it but im all for trying different experiments and be an onlooker to make sure everything is done by the book then again maybe i wud try it..

here's another "copy n pasted"

Is the Ouija a fascinating game for harmless fun... or a dangerous gateway to the unknown?
Your fingertips lightly touch the edge of the planchette. Your friend does the same on the opposite side. You consciously move the planchette in circles around the board to get it
