Quote:
Most books about ghosts tend to be frustratingly thin on verifiable facts. This, however, is a series of blow-by-blow accounts of one man's experiences of releasing trapped souls, commonly the cause of 'hauntings'. The accounts are written by an established broadsheet journalist, Gillian Cribbs, who attends some cases personally. The psychic, retired civil engineer Eddie Burks, comes across as so normal and unassuming that any lingering cynicism about the attention-seeking 'mystic Meg' type medium most commonly represented on TV and in print is swiftly laid to rest. Dates, names and places are given and there is a refreshing lack of drama. Despite the book's title, the events recorded are quite dramatic enough without requiring any of the pseudo-paranormal 'padding' common with this type of subject. One of many electrifying accounts, the recent haunting of Coutts' bank on the Strand is recorded in extraordinary detail and backed up by research. The case of the house in Italy haunted by a remorseful robber and the historical evidence backing Burks' identification of the spirit in question and the events surrounding his death are truly staggering. I have yet to find another book about 'ghosts' that is anywhere near as convincing.

Now I've definitely seen Eddie a few times. Never read this book though. May have to give it a try.
