Just got myself a Kindle and, not being one to buy books myself, I was wondering what "old" .. out of copyright .. now public domain .. books you'd recommend ... not necessarily ghosty in nature but any suggestions on that score will be appreciated.

Downloaded Dracula and Frankenstein from the horror (?!?!) genre already .. but also other "classics" like Arabian Nights, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes et al .. so any others like this you'd recommend too.

Always wanted to read the oldies but couldn't be pestered finding them and carrying them from Library to Home and get bored in 5 pages and have wasted my time .. so now, can press a button to download and read when sat on the bog dropping a turd or two ..

So any recommendations, fire away!

Yeah .. got about 9 or so downloaded .. just not sure what I fancy from days gone by .. Always wanted to read a couple of Shakespeare and Dickens - but unknown whether if I'd give up on them or not .. also going to look out for the Iliad and the Odyssey from Homer (not Simpson!!) - but tried before and my brain was mashed in 10 minutes.

Thinking more along the lines of Treasure Island / Robinson Crusoe .. my minds a bit blank after that .. maybe 3 Musketeers .. but that type .. Ohh .. Jekyll and Hyde .. theres one .. so - any other suggestions of that ilk .. let me know

And cheers for the shout on the case. Whats the dimensions on that? Weren't the earlier Gens a different size?

Just downloaded Ghost Stories of Antiquary 1 & 2 by MR James - so I'll get round to reading them .. I noticed when I got them, Amazon produced a whole list of freebie ghost books - so I'll work through them at some point too.

I'm sure you'll like them. They're classics.

I love my Kindle. Funnily enough, I downloaded those M R James ghost stories (being free and all) but have not got round to reading them yet...I may just do that now I've seen this thread. Nice one.
