I often find that looking in the local books section of bookshops nearly always turns up something more interesting on ghosts, rather than the mind, body, spirit section. Whenever I'm in a new town I nearly always come back home with a little book on local hauntings that I'd not previously heard of.

I've just bought 'Haunted Middlesbrough', and although a lot of the tales seem a bit suspect at first glance, it is very interesting and has informed me about a new few tales of which I had been previously unaware.

Books like this could be a good reference for finding new locations to investigate.

someone got me 'haunted middlesbrough' for Xmas.....gotta say I agree with you doktor_phibes bout some of the tales being a bit odd...
To be honest I expected more from this book......

but like you say,its got some new tales in there, which are always nice to hear, although I find the whole book a bit 'vague'......loadsa good stuff with detail they could have put in but didnt,I'd be interested to know how they made thier choices regarding the content!

I think some of their choices were made out of desperation as there probably aren't enough solid cases in Middlesbrough to fill a whole book. I agree that they should have maybe had less entries and went into more detail about some of the cases.

yeah, maybe regarding Middlebrough, but they went a bit further too didnt they really, not just in the Boro...Redcar was in there and with a bit of digging I've uncovered plenty I'd have rather seen in there rather than what actually was.......
