.. Can anyone think of any remakes that were better than the original?

Having just watched Clash of the Titans - I can't seem to think of any off the top of my head ..

The Thing (Jon Carpenter)

I also think 'The Hills Have Eyes' remake is better than the original.

I've haven't seen either of those remakes so can't comment!

It just seems so often, some bright spark gets an idea to do a remake and then fucks it up.

Ah! I've just thought of one .. :D .. two infact! Actually loads! All the original superhero films were shit .. Batman, Spiderman and The Hulk .. all the remakes were much better - even the gash ones!

But generally - remakes are crap .. Now - is that because of a fondness for the originals or just plain crap remakes???

why I switch off from remakes is that there are lots of fuckin good ideas out there, good scripts good actors etc,but the money gets wasted I mean spent on remaking things already done..........

Preferred the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and tot agree all the superhero remakes are so much better. And quite liked the Amityville remake too....tho the Omen remake, although good for a one off really needed to be the series of films like the original
