What? Like Gimplestiltskin? There was some pretty good cinematography in that one...

Just watched Paranormal Activity and I have to say I was impressed!
It never looses focus or direction and it really has a creepy edge. the acting is pretty good once they are put under pressure, a must see for any fan of the paranormal. :D

Went to see this at the cinema last night with Tiliie and we both really enjoyed it. Never have I seen/heard a cinema audience shit themselves so much. I think it may be a bit slow paced for a large percentage of the public but when the film is good it is REALLY good.

I'm having slightly mixed reports about Paranormal Activity although most people have said, it's really good! I think it's a classic in the making..

I heard some people talking on the way out of the cinema and they were saying that they thought it would have been a lot scarier all the way through, but agreed that it did come good in the end.

I personally feel that the reason that it is so effective is due to the fact that it is a slow build which heightens the audiences dread when the 'scares' do come'.

Yeah good horror movies do work by leaving you to imagine what's happening, and thene ven when something does happen you see very little of it which reinforces whatever is happening in our heads. Not knowing is so often more frightening than knowing.

yeah I agree. That's why Alien and the original Haunting are so good. I bet they end up cocking it up with the proposed sequel though.

Still havent watched it all.

Because what I have sene of it is utter shit.

If a door closing and someone falling out of bed scares the shit out of you, dont go and see this movie.
If you want to be scared, dont go and see this movie.

If you want to watch a reasonable attempt at a movie, yeah sit through it.

I went to see it a couple of nights back and was not overly impressed at all. It was OK but it certainly wasn't scary and the ending was incredibly lame. Some of the effects were nicely done but they weren't mind-blowing or particularly original.

I only went to see it as I know full well that those who attend my Psi Parties and Séances will be discussing it and I need to know what they are on about. Maybe I'm just too aware of realities or need a more convincing and multi-dimensional experience to set my adrenalin and nerves off. Would love to be as scared as some of those who have seen it claim they were.

It's a shame that you feel that being 'Just too aware of realities' may have stopped you from enjoying a film. In my opinion there's nothing like suspending your disbelief and going along with something that is just a bit of entertainment.

Well the point for me is that I fully expect o see activty everytime I go on an investigation. So why would watching a movie of something I am looking for come across as scary?

Perhaps that is why I didnt think much of it, perhaps its because I take part in investigations it ruied the adventure of the movie. Perhaps naval pilots feel the same about topgun etc????
