I went to the cinema to see [REC] last night (on my own too! - How sad is that?), and I've got to say it was one of the most intense and horrifying films I have ever seen. As long as you don't mind subtitles and like zombie films you could do a lot worse that give it a go. I'm thinking of going to see it again at the weekend. 10/10.

Never heard of that one - then again, I don't usually do Zombie films .. never been my cup of tea.

So is it just a case of a load of zombies and some brave bally hero spends two hours hacking them to pieces in more and more imaginative and brutal ways?? ... Like all other Zombie films????

It's about a fly on the wall documentary film crew who are making a TV show about the fire brigade. The fire brigade gets a call to a run down apartment block where they have had a report of an old lady in distress and the film crew accompanies them. When they arrive the old lady who is in a bad way, suddenly takes a big bite out of one of the police officers who is also at the scene. Then all hell breaks loose!

When the poor souls try to leave they find that the building has been quarantined and they are stuck inside with an increasing amount of ghouls. It may sound like pretty much run of the mill stuff, but what makes [REC] different is how realistic it all seems (unlike Romeros 'Diary of the Dead'). The last 15 mins have to be one of the most heart pounding moments in recent cinema.

The new film 'Quarantine' in cinemas at the moment is an American remake of this film and while it is not meant to be that bad it's not a patch on the Spanish original. Watch [Rec] instead.

So I gather. I wonder how they are going to film it this time?
