Im showing my age now but i never forget the first Video i had ever watched was american werewolf in London, it was where there was only VHS (the best and more expensive videos) or Beta max (the cheap ones).
My friend was stopping over the night so we put it on and scared our selves esp the bit where the guy who got killed is in the back row of the cinema. Didnt like it that much but still sticks out in my mind as been one of the first films i had watched.

Woah! what the hells a VHS? lol. No seriously, Betamax was the better quality media, but the movie companies backed VHS and it became more popular. Swings and round-a-bouts cos now the same thing is happening with HD DVD and Blu-ray disc, And it looks like this time, the better quality media, Blu-ray, is winning out.

Anyways back to the actual post don't think I've ever seen that movie. And I can't remember the first video I ever watched, I too old now and starting to loose my memory.... What was I talking about? Anyways I'll try remember. :P

Awww I absolutly love that film. Right from the get go when there out on the moors its blummin scary!
Not in todays standards but when that first came out it was!

I love the bit where Jack is decomposing and sits in Davids front room to warn him that hes gonna change!
He picks up that rubber micky mouse and says "Hi David" in a micky mouse voice, love it.

Brilliant change shots to, and of course the music is fantastic!

The transformation scene gained the effects crew an Oscar, no horror film as ever achieved an Oscar before in any catagory, not to my knowledge anyway.

Dog Soldiers is a class film .. some real good laugh out moments too!

But yeah - you mention AWiL and the talk always ends up on the change scene which is still to this day to be beaten.

I always preferred the change scene in The Howling myself (not the rubbish one at the end), which came out in the same year,
