Its not a spookie film but you
couldnt get any weirder.
Surreal is not the word to use.
The film was made by David lynch.

I saw it years ago - weird but intriguing. Most of his films are.

Its one of my all time faves, most people dont like it cos it can be hard to follow, slow and its so way out there....its strangeness is its strong point.
I havent seen it for years, but you do get a strange feeling watching it....love the ultra bleak atmosphere and the constant industrial noises.wonderful stuff. :)

yeah,I taped it off the tv when I was about 12 or 13,it was the strangest thing I had ever seen then!Dunno about a strange feeling but I watched it loads and got different stuff off it every time.I can see things that remind me of it in some of his later stuff.I'd love to talk to him about it though!I've not seen it for a few years now,I'm on a mission to get hold of it again now!I'm just glad someone else likes it!

Its on ebay, heres how its described there:

"Director David Lynch's feature-film debut is a masterpiece of the macabre and grotesque. Reportedly a reaction to the news that he was about to become a father, Lynch's ERASERHEAD follows a sensitive young man as he struggles to cope with impending parenthood. Henry Spencer (Jack Nance) lives in a hopeless industrial landscape, lusting after the beautiful woman who lives in the apartment across the hall. After his girlfriend, Mary (Charlotte Stewart), informs him of her pregnancy, he is forced to eat dinner with her extremely odd family. The baby is eventually born, only it isn't a human baby at all; it's a deformed creature that resembles a lizard. The baby won't stop crying, a horrifyingly piercing wail that drives Mary insane. Left alone with the baby, Henry is serenaded by a woman who lives inside his radiator, and soon he decides to murder his baby in order to stop the nightmare once and for all. Five years in the making, ERASERHEAD contains all of the trademark attributes of a Lynch film--haunting visuals, an ethereal score, unsettling sound design, and, most notably, a black sense of humor--creating a world onscreen that is exhilarating, terrifying, and unique."

It brilliant. The Pixies did a cover of "In Heaven", and I think that the actual track on the film was released by Alternative Tentacles at one point, I know they did a T Shirt. Firm favourite amongst the post punk pre grunge US bands.
First time i saw this in the 80's it blew me away... I was once called a pretentious twat for liking this film, so i'm glad so many other people like it.

If you like this check out Vampyr by Carl Dreyer. Its equally as bizarre, difficult to watch but beautiful.

Vampyr is really odd. Its about a demonologist... thats the only thing that makes sense.

I remember first watching Eraserhead as a teenager one late night in the 80's on Channel 4, when it used to show good films.

That probably explains why I'm such a warped little monkey.
