Every night i settle down to bed and quickly fall asleep. I always feel my bed shaking after about an hour which wakes me up. Sometimes it's slight rocking, last night it was enough to wake me from a deep sleep and continued to do so for another couple of minutes.

I say shaking, it's more rocking. Can someone help as to what this is?

Thanks

Hmmm tricky one to answer on a forum post.

You say the bed is rocking, are you certain it is, or could it be the sensation of rocking?
Have you tried hanging something that would jingle on the bed to see if it responds when you feel the rocking?

In a lot of hauntings, people say they feel a bed vibrate or rock etc, I've never understood why this is quite common, I suspect theres a sensation rather than an actual movement.

Yeah it's tricky to say as it could be anything. If it were me I'd try setting up a video camera to see if its the bed or yourself that's moving.

Well it's 3:16am, been asleep for about 4 hours. Woken up by a pinch/grab on my left second toe. Felt as if someone had squeezed it, as you would to get someones attention. Wasn't happy, broke into a sweat and put my fingers in my ears (haha). Moved my fingers away, strange sounds galore. Shuffling, dragging?! little bangs here and there. My house is new but there aren't ever bangs. And they've stopped now. I laid for a bit, then jumped up and hit the light, nothing. My quilt is soaked in sweat (mmm!!) and i'm not happy. I feel freezing cold but i think that's just the after affect of the sweat.

I need help with this!

like the others above have said the best thing to do at this stage is set up a camera to record through the night. see if anything is picked up. then go from there

All of the reported phenomena you describe, although they seem odd, could easily have logical explanations, so we shouldn't jump to any paranormal conclusions just yet. The best thing to do for the time being is just to keep a diary of everything that goes on with a much detail as possible (times, duration etc.) If you can try and record anything even better.

We get enquires like this all the time, and most cases things just settle down by themselves very quickly. The main thing is to try and go about things as normally as possible and to try not to attribute the slightest thing to the paranormal.

Just a few questions for you if you don't mind. You can always PM or email the answers if you don't want them on a public forum.

- How long has this been going on? You mentioned that your new house had a "lovely warm feeling", so I'm guessing it's all pretty recent?

- Do you have any idea as to why you should be experiencing these things now?

- Has anything like this happened before in your life?

- Have you tried to locate the source of these noises?

- How many people live in the house?

Over a year now. Experiences include bed rocking, 'touch', and a sock which hit my shoulder as i lay on my side facing the wall. No shelves or anything above my bed (not that you'd put a sock on there anyway), couldn't explain the sock but obviously the bed rocking may be me, the touch was on my second left toe which i broke a good few years ago and it never healed properly and so is affected by the cold often.

The house does have a warm feeling it's just every so often this happens.

4 people in the house, 2 dogs in an outside kennel so it isn't them two.

All pretty explanable but the sock was the strongest evidence.
Noises could be accredited to my brother who shuffles like hell in his sleep and talks a good un too!!

I'm getting that sleep app for my iphone see if i can catch anything!

Cheers guys.

Well that sounds like a good start.

I agree that for a sock to hit your shoulder while you lay on my bed is the strongest thing to suggest something is going on. It was either thrown by a real person, fell from somewhere (which you say It couldn't have done), Was on your bed anyway and you just felt like it had hit your back (seems unlikely) or that it is indeed a mystery.

Keep us informed of any further developments.

I would be very interested in any recordings captured, please keep us posted on this. Has the other people in your house experienced anything either, or is it just yourself. Maybe get your brother involved in this and get him to sleep on the floor in your room, see if anything happens with you both in the room at the same time.

Hi guys, quick update.

Since that night, nothing. Absolutely zilch, which has lead me to believe i was going slightly crazy and more imagining the things happening, such as the bed rocking. Can't explain the sounds but who knows.

The sleep app i downloaded has caught me snoring, my dog (they've moved inside now) yawning, dreaming (yapping) and also the sound of his collar as he shakes.

Ahh well!!

Thanks for the update Frazer. It's always good when people take the time to tell us know what's been (or not been) happening. I'm glad that things have calmed down and whatever the reason for your initial disturbance seems to have stopped.

Too many groups would have been itching to pop round with some useless bits of kit and confuse matters further, but this is exactly the reason we encourage doing a bit of self investigation first as it usually solves the problem. After saying that that's not to say we wouldn't be interested if things do happen in future. Keep in touch.
