I live in a town called Ashington, when i was about 12 or 13 me & a mate of mine decided to have a little bike ride down to the river Wansbeck. We have done this on a number of occasions but this time it would be a bit odd in my book.
The weather was very nice and there was hardly any wind, as we approached one way to get to the riverside (a very step hill that takes you into a little wood) as we were going down the step bank, which is just a footpath really. i noticed an old lady with a black dog coming towards us, she stepped aside to let us go by i looked at her and smiled, she smiled back.
By the time she was out of my vision i decided to have a quick look back towards her but she was no where to be seen! i shouted at my mate and said did you see that old lady with the black dog? he said yeah and was confused to why she disappeared so quickly. we did go back to see if she had fallen over somewhere but was nowhere to be seen.
Well that's my encounter it may not have been a ghost we seen but i couldn't see her leggin it so quickly either

I would have thought that was odd too, but then I would start to rationalise it away.

Its possible that she ventured off the footpath into the woods. another strange thing, when i told my dad what happened, he claims that the woman i seen sounds familiar to an appearance that happened to him months before in the same area. he described her pretty much the same as the woman i seen and she had also disappeared right after he walked passed her. the only difference is he claims that she spoke to him for a few moments.

Well it's not unheard of for 'ghosts' to have conversations with people if the stories are to be believed. It may be interesting to see if anyone else has seen this woman. She probably just lives locally but you never know.

i would love to find out if other people have seen this woman, my dad claims he has seen a few ghosts in his time, he has a fair few story's. he seems to think ghosts come out on hot sunny days, as all of his encounter's have been on really hot days.
