A week after my first dog died, my mum was helping me get dressed for a birthday party (I was only about seven). All of a sudden we both heard a noise on the stairs which sounded identical to the sound that our dog used to make when she bounded up them. We both turned our heads and expected her to come running round the corner to greet us but as you can imagine, there was no dog there. At the time we thought it was nice to think it was our dog coming back to say goodbye, but looking back it could have been anything. We never did hear the same noise again though.

Both me and my mum both thought it sounded exactly like our dog who had died the week before.

no probs Mark, fuck it it can be now!

I know the 1st time I went to the Fleece in the Minster suite I felt that there was a bigish black dog like a scruffy collie in a corner sat with a bloke there, so much that I put my hand out to stroke it despite it growling.

I've had my fair amount of non-human experiences and encounters .. but hey, I was young and pissed so I can be forgiven ..

Ohh .. hang on ..

Right .. I see .. errm ..

The question is tho, would we recognise something being non-human or non-animal? We could technically experience something each day and it just passes us by ..

Well our team bosses seem to think I saw an elemental once.

it was at my mates house....the sunbed shop.....actually the backyard of it.

Just a weird looking.....figure, wasnt really any shap I can describe, but it had what appeared to be a face but sorta melted........odd looking thing. 3 of us saw it and all of us said whatever it was wasnt human.

I dont think it looked like an animal either, because if it was it could only have been a pig, cow or sheep.......the building was once an abbatoir!

Probably becuase it wasnt human or any known animal.

Doesn't really leave much else does it?
I'm no animal expert, but I know what most animals look like especialy ones that are about 5-6 feet tall.

so because it wasnt human or animal they class that as 'elemental' then?
Just asking cos it seems there are different interpretations to 'elemental' for different people so am interested in what yours/theres is Anth!

To me an elemental is a spirit that never lived.
So it would fit in with what I think, if you class elementals as elements then I'd guess it would be a load of bullshit.

ayway it was just something weird in the corner of the yard, could have been a bear with a melted face i guess, but I dont recall bears being native to the United Kingdom.

Could have been a demon, but as I dont believe in religion demon has little or no meaning to me. And if it was why was it poncing about in someones back yard?

Yeh, Elemental does get bandied about quite a bit. For some its a spirit/entity that has never existed in corporeal form while in Magick they tend to represent the four elements in the forms of sylphs, salamanders, gnomes and undines.

That seems to be the general consensus got it, however some pagans/wiccans seem to be affronted with that translation/interpretation and harp on bout other representational stuff.

What do you mean by 'never lived'?
Never lived where?
Surely its living if its an 'elemental', I'm presuming you mean its something not from the 'earth plane', which is something I've heard when used to describe elementals, or something thats been 'created' (like a tulpa or something deliberatly 'evoked/created')....the whole 'elemental' thing probably deserves a thread in its own right.

That would be me then :D (not that I'm all that affronted).
Lets have an elemental thread then.

Bloody Wiccans! The truth is that anyone can call themselves a high priest(ess) in Wicca really, unless you follow certain established paths.

according to her she had followed certain established paths but she accorded to lots of things including encouraging a woman so pissed out of her head she could hardly stand let alone speak to let this spirit of an unhappy woman enter her and talk through her to a room full of strangers............and charging her fifty quid for the privelege........

Would surprise me. Wicca is a religion that tend to attract a lot of strange types and a lot of people with delusions of granduer (a bit like ghost hunting really).

What gets me with certain Wiccan paths (such as Gardinarians), is when they say you've got to be initiated into a coven directly descended from Gardiners original one else your not a real Witch. At the end of the day the whole Wiccan religion was only invented in the 1950's (at least popularised) anyway. We were all Pagans originally so why should it make a difference? Just people trying to sound good in my opinion.

Well I'm talking about what the people of Britain believed in before Christianity reared it's head and started telling people how to behave or else they would burn in the fires of hell.

What do you mean Claire. Fire away!

but how do u know exactly what the people of britian exactly believed before christianity, and how is this proof we were all 'pagans'....there seems to be conflicting evidence for a lot of things but peoples having the same 'faiths/belief systems' seems to be an area where there appears to be lots of different types of these, which probably stems from the fact that we are apparently an isle of imigrants anyway each bringing weith it and setting up its own stuff which probably did get mingled with general stuff and form a sort og general thing but seems that lots of different things were involved.....and thats before you even get on the what is your interpretation of 'pagan' (mines not polite hehehe!), hence why I'm asking you specifically rather than me firing away and you saying ''ah but thats not what I meant''....makes snes eto me for you to clarify thsi especially first then it can show if I'm interpretating you correctly a lot easier and it will be easeir for you to point out specific things you dont agree with if thats the case etc.
