Who has experienced this, and why and how do you know?
This can cause all manner of 'spooky' experiences' but what I'm interested in is how do people differenciate between a sleep paralysis experience and something which isnt sleep paralysis?

This isnt a post about what is SP and what is a genuine paranormal experience, this is about how individuals experience things and how they interpret experiences, why some people will say 'I had a classic SP experience' and not be botherd by it yet other people will say 'I had a visitation/ghostly/alien experience' and it will affect them afterwards.

If people have had an experience of this kind and are undecided about what it was then why are you undecided, what things make you unsure as to what it was to you exactly and why?

And who has experienced this and believed it was a genuine paranormal experience then hear about SP and write it off as that? What are your resons?

OK i think i understand the rules.

I've had visitations in the night, but it was not sleep paralysis.
Why do I know that? well because I sat up in bed and the presence was still felt. Knowing that although you cannot see anything there, a presence is moving back and forth in the room and staring at you.....it seemed like it was riling itself up ready to attack me. I eventually woke up my wife and the atmosphere immediatly lifted.
So thats a classic none sleep paralysis experience. I dont think I have ever had a true SP experience, however I was discussing an experience my aunt had with her, and she displayed the classic symptoms, laid asleep in the hospital day room (working night shift) and "awoke" to feel a heavy presence on top of her, unable to move and struggling to breathe she managed to scream.....people came running and no one was in the room with her. Did she wake herself up?

Yeah i think so, its hardly paralysis when you can move.

Just seemed that althoguht the experiences COULD have been dismessed as both SP, I feel one was and one was not.

i believe that when we are a sleep our souls can travel in the world by leaving the physical body. this is why i always sleep with my door and window closed! in my first SP i couldnt control the travel and i was flying from place to place and was very afraid that i will not come back to my physical body and will be trap in the ghosts world.

I've experienced this quite a few times over the years. Some people get an all over feeling of vibration/buzzing, which I did too, which was accompanied by a roaring noise in my head.

Because it happened so many times, I tried to find a way of coming out of it, and the only thing I found worked was relaxing. After a little while this worked, and I could move again, and would be awake. It is pretty scary though, when you cannot move and feel literally paralyzed all over.

Its like being in a semi awake state, which is why I could be aware of myself. Maybe a little like people who are aware they are dreaming (lucid dreaming).
