Library Restaurant
As the name suggests, in its original form, the Restaurant had once been a Library within the hall and was in fact the oldest part of the Hotel. The Library had been the only part of the Hall which hadn't been affected by the fire which struck in 1876.
Now it had been converted into a Restaurant with approximately nine four seater tables spread around the room. A large chandelier hung from the center of the room, heavy drapes covered the windows and around the walls, hinting at its previous use, were shelves full of books.
Group 1 Report : Jay Cath Carol
Each of our team spread out onto the various tables within the room and after lighting a few candles we allowed the location to settle down.
A couple of the girls sat at the table near to Jay started to report that they could feel cold spots around where they sat. Jay checked the temperature around them and confirmed that it was lower where they claimed the cold spots where compared to the rest of the room. Incidentally, they were sat in the corner where various staff members had reported previously that they could sense a man sitting.
Jay began to call out but he got no response worthy of note. However, a few people had begun to notice one of the candles at the table where the cold spots had been reported was acting strange.
We checked the area for any noticeable breezes which could explain the periodically dancing candle and the noted cold spots but nothing could be identified.
After another short while calling out to whatever spirits allegedly inhabited this room - with the same non-response as previous, we moved onto to our next location.
Group 2 Report : Andrea Sue Dean Beth Angela
This was out First Location. We all went into the Restaurant and found a table to sit on. We sat for a few moments while Dean, Beth and Angela told Andrea and Sue a few stories about this room but not giving too much away. We then sat quiet for a few minutes and Angela lighted a few of the candles on the tables.
After a few minutes Sue said that she could sense a man standing in the corner of the room, Also Angela then confirmed that when she comes into this room at Breakfasts time she also senses a man in the room with her. Andrea went over to the corner and took a temperature reading it had dropped to 17.4oc from 29.6oc while she was standing there. Andrea said she could feel a breeze but could not see where it was coming from. Dean then joined Andrea and he also confirmed he could feel a coldness which didn't seem like a draft.
After a few more minutes Andrea took a temperature reading again in the same corner and it was now 25.9oc, sue said she felt whatever had been there had moved. Andrea went over to the corner and the same thing happened, the temperature dropped from 25.0oc to 16.4oc in the matter of 30 seconds. Angela and sue both said it had gone away from there and after checking the temperature Andrea Confirmed the temp had rose to 22.05oc.
Andrea's Night Vision Turned of on 2 or 3 occasions there was no logical reason why this would happen, she had full tape and battery but she thought maybe it was as it was warm.
The door to the room then opened and another staff member came in called John and he said had come in to check the room as there was an alarm going off which we could now hear and he said this has not happened for a few months, we all laughed. Sue asked John about this room and John told us that when he came in here to check the room maybe 3am sometimes he would feel he was not alone and that there was something in the corners of the room. John pointed to the 2 corners where Andrea had just taken temperature readings moments ago.
John then left and closed the door behind him. We sat quiet for a few more minutes. We all heard knocking sounds as if it was coming from behind the bookcase. Dean mentioned that on a few occasions books had come of the bookcase and landed on the floor. In the next few minutes we all heard some creaks and small taps. Andrea said that it could be the wood bookcase and the wood beams in the room as if the temperature was dropping and raising then this noise would be coming from the wood as it cools down. Sue sensed the names George, Paul and Mary. She also sensed something to do with a heart attack. After a few more minutes of Sue calling out Beth asked sue if the names were for this location of for a person as she could take all 3
names. It seems that whoever has worked in this room feel like they are not alone.
Group 3 Report : Kris Dave
The group spaced themselves out around the room, sat at individual tables. Kris lit one of the candles situated in the centre of the room then proceeded to call out. No noticeable response was made. Spirits were invited to alter the shape of the candles flame, but no noticeable response was made.
One of the guests stated that she could see the candle stick moving backwards and forwards. None of the other guests witnessed this.
One of the guests mentioned that she regularly experiences a male spirit in the room and that she converses with him. She called out to him but no response was given.

Room 6
This room was a standard hotel room that you will find the world over. It was dominated by a large double bed and contained a wooden wardrobe, a couple of bedside cabinets and a large chest of drawers. Adjoining the bedroom was a on-suite bathroom containing the usual furnishings.
Group 1 Report : Jay Cath Carol
This was our first location of the night and as usually is the case with the first location, was the quietest of the night.
A few people did report that they felt aches and pains in their left shoulders however, some of this may have been psychosomatic in nature and Mikey - one of the staff members with us did feel a little nauseous in the room (the room was very warm which everyone commented on) as well as feeling as though he was swaying when stood in the doorway of bedroom and bathroom.
The most notable event in this room happenned as we were leaving. Every staff member of the hotel we had spoken to had mentioned the unease they felt when going into room 6 and not many enjoyed visiting the room.
There were 3 steps leading up to the door of the room and upon exiting, Mikey, who was leaving just in front of Jay, said as he was making his way down the steps that "he hated going in that room". As he finished saying 'room' his legs immediately gave way and he fell down the remaining two steps and finished in a heap on the floor.
He could have just lost his footing, but it was strange that it was him who said what he said and it was him whose legs just happened to give way. Makes you think.
Group 2 Report : Andrea Sue Dean Beth Angela
We came into Room 6 and Beth and Angela laid down on the bed and Andrea sat near the mirror and wardrobe and sue and Dean sat on the chairs next to the window and bathroom.
Sue called out. Sue then said she could sense a woman by where Andrea was sitting next to the kettle, Andrea says she felt fine here and felt nothing. We heard a few knocks coming from the bathroom but we put it down to someone being in the bathroom to the other room next door.
Sue tried using the Crystal and all we got was: A female who was in her 60's and died here. She died of unnatural causes. We did not get a name. Sue didn't get anything else So after some more calling out we left Room 6 to re group. As we came out of the room and started to go down the stairs to go the main bar area we realized there was no Room right next to Room 6 so now we could not explain the knocking which
we heard coming from the bathroom area.
Group 3 Report : Kris Dave
The group settled and Kris began to call out. No noticeable response resulted from this. Chris began to feel a pain in his left side of his belly. He couldn't account for any reason why this was.
Light anomalies were spotted simultaneously by Dave and one of the guests. This presented it's self as a pin prick of red light, situated over the four poster bed. The guest witnessed further anomalies of the same nature. On investigation, the group could not find any natural causes for the phenomenon.
One of the guests visualized a woman wearing a 'mop hat'. She was unable to see her face. The guest went on to say the woman?s name was Ellen or Eleanor. She became quite agitated and emotional at this point. The guests? grandmother was called Eleanor and was known to be psychic.

Linen Room And Stairs
The Linen room had been reported as one of the areas where most staff had claimed that they didn't like to go. The area consisted of a corridor leading to the door of the linen room and then a set of stairs travelling downwards to an emergency exit at the back of the hotel.
Sadly, we could find no way to turn off the lights in the corridor or linen room, so the resourceful ones amongst us had to use jackets draped over the wall lights to darken the areas.
Group 1 Report : Jay Cath Carol
After a short running around trying to unsuccessfully find a way to shut of the lights in the area, we eventually settled down within the linen room itself.
Space was a little cramped so the 3 guest staff members were huddled under shelves, Jay flat out on the floor and Carol and Cath stood near the doorway, we let things settle down.
After about 10 minutes, Jay reported that he could see shadows in the light that was creeping under the door as though somebody was moving about outside in the corridor. We all strained our ears but couldn't hear anybody and we called out to anybody - living or dead, to make themselves known. There was no response.
Jay continued calling out and at one point claimed that he felt, what he calls, the "heeby jeebies" .. that moment when it feels like someone has just walked 'over your grave'. All the hairs stand up on end and the shivers go up your spine. Almost immediately, Mikey who was contorted under one the linen shelves next to Jay, reported exactly the same sensation. It was though 'something' had passed through the wall, move across where Jay was laying and then moved on to where Mikey was sat.
Jay tried to tempt any spirits present to communicate with us. For a couple of minutes he tried knocking on the wall himself and encouraged any spirit present to do the same - other than one or two clicks and semi-knocks, there wasn't anything of note to report.
Group 2 Report : Andrea Sue Dean Beth Angela
We positioned ourselves in different areas of the corridor and stairs and attempted to call out to any spirit that may have been present. We got no responses whatsoever.
A number of people commented on being cold, but the stairs led down to an exit way where the door was open and probably explained this.
We found this area very quiet and devoid of anything remotely paranormal.
Group 3 Report : Kris Dave
Kris proceeded to walk down the stairs alone. He experienced a pain in his left knee. He claimed that this was not normal and that it wasn't because he was getting old. He went on to explain to the group that he had experienced the same sensation at exactly the same location when he had visited the building on a previous date.
Kris, Dave and one of the guests began to experience headaches. Dave suggested that this maybe a result of the fluorescent lighting used to illuminate the stair well.
Kris called out. One of the guests became quiet emotional, she felt very sad and had felt like there was a weight pressing down on her shoulders. She went on to become very emotional and stated that she was ?a wash with grief?. She was crouched down, and mentioned that she felt like she was kneeling over somebody. Both Chris and the guest felt like the layout of the stairs had been altered in some way. Kris visualized two arms, either pushing or grabbing somebody.
Other than this, we report that nothing that could have been ascertained as paranormal happened in this location.

Whitworth Room
This was a large, rectangular room which at the time of our visit had many chairs laid out facing the bottom end of the room. It was in here were civil receptions could held by those who wanted to be married at the hall for intstance.
Group 1 Report : Jay Cath Carol
We found a table appropriately placed in the room and attempted a few experiments involving a glass. We placed our fingers on the glass and attempted to contact any spirits who were present to move the glass around the table. Other than an occassional vibration in the glass, there was no significant movement.
Next we tried a table-tipping experiment but again, other than a little vibration in the table and the odd knocking on the underside of the table, nothing really came of the experiment.
What we did find, however, was during one part of the table-tipping exercise, Jay left the table as the rest of the group sat around it, and began to walk around the room calling out to any spirits.
As he did, a breeze formed around the table and could be felt on the opposite side of where Jay was currently walking. It was though somebody or something was following him around as he walked, albeit, a good few steps behind him.
We experimented a little with Jay walking quickly past people to check if a similar breeze could be detected but nothing similar could be produced.
Following this, as though in response to our queries concerning the source of the breeze, numerous group members began to hear what sounded like footsteps in the room which could be heard separately to whatever sound Jay was making as he walked. There were five distinct instances where footsteps and the resultant creaky floorboard were identified within the room.
Group 2 Report : Andrea Sue Dean Beth Angela
Angela and Beth had now left so there was only Dean, Andrea and Sue left. We went into our final location and sat around a table with a glass and thought we would try some Glass Divination. After trying for a few moments we got nothing.
We sat and spoke to Dean about Whitworth Hall. After some more time we called it a night and went to regroup.
Group 3 Report : Kris Dave
Conditions in this room were not ideal, as the emergency lighting was in operation. Kris called out. No noticeable responses were made. One of the guests was visualizing a door made up of four panels. The visualized door was slightly open and light was flooding in through the gap. She then sensed that there was something over her left shoulder and asked the group for reassurance. The rest of the group could not see anything.
One of the guests witnessed a mystery person walk past one of the windows. Upon inspection nobody could be seen.
In conclusion the group found this location to be very quiet and didn't feel that anything paranormal was witnessed.
