The Cellar

The cellar of the Schooner Hotel is a dank dark and unused area of the building. Scattered on the floor are various wooden crates and rubbish. There are two chairs for people to sit upon and those are the only pieces of furniture. There is a blocked up window at one end of the cellar and a pipe runs across one wall. It should be noted that this pipe has a meter attached to it that, seemingly random, 'clicked' at various different rates.

Group 1 Report : Jay Claire

Jay and Claire settled down on the two chairs in the Cellar and sat in silence for a short period of time while they let the location settle and allowed their eyes time to adjust to the darkness.

Once settled, Jay began calling out for any spirits that may have been present to make themselves known. Other than a quickening of the clicking meter, there was no other response noted.

Another moment of silence before Jay reported getting images flash in his mind. They seemed to revolve around Room 29 on the top floor and where this group would be heading later. Crazily to Jay - he kept getting shown two animals in this room - an Elephant and a Ginger Cat.

Earlier when walking around, Claire had stated that she could smell "ginger" specifically in room 29 and in fact felt she had made contact with a spirit who she called the "Ginger Bread Woman".

On a previous visit to the Schooner, Jay - when alone in room 29 - had experienced an incident in that room where upon calling out, he managed to get repeated tapping in response to the questions he'd been asking - right on cue.

Maybe a long shot - but Jay was interpreting the images he was being shown as a message to himself : "Don't forget" .. (EDITOR : elephants - never forget - ermm .. do they?) .. " .. Room 29 .. the Ginger Bread woman" .. (EDITOR : Don't ask he how he got the woman from a ginger cat .. this is a family website - use your imagination) ...

As mentioned it was a long shot - but read what happened in the Group session NGI had and when Jay and Claire spent time in Room 29.

Group 2 Report : Bruce Pam Dave

As we entered the cellar it was cold and foisty, Jaque is here,he belongs to a schooner ship called the Cross keys. He carries merchant wears, wine and the likes, also gunpowder in small barrels.

He is shouting at Pam to save his daughter, saying that Pam had not done her job. There are bottles facing us, all were the same when we entered but one bottle had turned round as we were leaving, small taps are heard. Bruce claimed to see his grandfather at the bottom of the stairs.

Group 3 Report : Wayne Carl

We entered the cellar and took to the chairs that we're present there.

We tried calling out for a while, but no matter how much we tried, we couldn't get any response. Wayne couldn't pick up on any spirits present either so it seemed the cellar was devoid of anything of note.

Room 20

Room 20 could be found at the back of the hotel after navigating your way through the warren like corridors to it. A standard hotel room - with 2 beds and an en suite bathroom. There was an annoyingly clanky radiator in the room and each of the beds, when sat upon, produced a lot of noise that was indicative of them experiencing plenty of activity themselves in the past although decidedly different in nature to anything paranormal!!

Group 1 Report : Jay Claire

Jay and Claire entered room 20 and settled themselves down in the room - Claire on the bed itself and Jay wandering about.

There was a en-suite bathroom and Jay noticed a slight discrepancy in the temperature between the two separate rooms (perfectly normal) but also noticed a change in atmosphere between the two. He claimed that passing between the two made him feel slightly dizzy. Claire tried walking between the two room and seemed to experience the same thing.

Jay called out for a while in the room, but got nothing in the way of response. Claire took over the reigns herself and got the same non-response.

Ultimately, it was felt that there was no spirit activity in this room - and other than the strange feeling passing into the bathroom - nothing to note.

Group 2 Report : Bruce Pam Dave

As we entered the room Pam felt uneasy so we sat for a while before calling out. There didn't seem to be much response but we continued to call out - the three of us sharing the load.

We did eventually start to hear light taps in the room and later, as we were sitting still and quiet, there was a large bright light appeared in the corner of the room and moved into the bathroom, passing right though Daves body - although he did not report and sensation. there was quiet a lot of movement-like noises in the room at this point and Pam, being sensitive, was glad to get out there when we finally left.

Group 3 Report : Wayne Carl

We felt nor experienced absolutely nothing in this room. It did seem quite noisy - whether that was a clanging radiator in the room or noises from outside the room - which did seem to dampen the atmosphere in the room and didn't allow things, or us, to settle.

Overall, we were disappointed with this room and we're happy to leave when our time was up.

Room 28

Rooms 28, 29 and 30 could be found on the top floor of the Schooner Hotel and had the reputation - specifically Room 28 - of being the most haunted rooms in the hotel.

Each of the rooms we're identically furnished (except Room 30 which had only one bed as opposed to two in the others). Once, it was said, these rooms weren't separate and the walls in between had been added at a later date to turn one large room, into three.

Group 1 Report : Jay Claire

Out of the three rooms on the top floor, Room 28 - which has the biggest reputation within the Schooner - was found to be the most disappointing to Jay and Claire.

Various tactics of calling out and trying to make contact with any spirits that may have been present failed to produce any results.

Of all the rooms visited that night in the Schooner - it was Room 28 which proved to be the least active of them all.

EDITOR : There is no group 2 report available for this location. Assume nothing of note occurred.

Group 3 Report

NGI Members : Wayne Carl

Upon entering the room we didn't feel anything of note but after a few minutes getting settled in the room, Carl felt that his leg was getting cold.

Wayne felt cold and said there was a spirit circling both Carl and Wayne. Wayne put a teabag on the end of one of the beds and asked the spirit to move it. The video camera was positioned so it would see any changes in the position of the teabag.

We attempted to call out for any spirit to make contact with us - either by making a noise in the room or by moving the aforementioned tea-bag (EDITOR : We're professional!!!). However, there was nothing of note recorded.

Wayne, however, felt the spirit of a tall lady with long dark hair (almost black). She was gaunt looking with brown eyes and a pointed jaw, she looked pale.

By this time it was coming to the end of the time in this location so further readings were taken.

Room 29

Rooms 28, 29 and 30 could be found on the top floor of the Schooner Hotel and had the reputation - specifically Room 28 - of being the most haunted rooms in the hotel.

Each of the rooms we're identically furnished (except Room 30 which had only one bed as opposed to two in the others). Once, it was said, these rooms weren't separate and the walls in between had been added at a later date to turn one large room, into three.

Group 1 Report : Jay Claire

Jay had been looking forward to his return to Room 29. On a previous visit to the Schooner, whilst alone in the room, he'd managed to make contact with one of the Schooners other-worldly residents - a ten minute question and answer spell with all the knock-knocks in the right places. He'd also interpreted a message he'd received earlier in the night in the cellar to "not forget Room 29".

Claire, at the beginning of the night, had also been looking forward to Room 29 as she had sensed something in the room and had picked up on a strong smell of ginger in the room which she sensed was linked to a woman in the room. She had also been affected by something in this room during the group seance we had held a short time previously.

Your probably expecting, though, after such a big build-up - very little was reported. Well, not quite. True, the room was quite and devoid of anything of note for the majority of our time inside, but near the end - with Jay laying on one bed calling out and Claire laying on the other listening, she began to have another episode similar to what occurred during the seance.

She claimed that she felt a presence very close to her and then her breathing became very heavy. Jay, laying in the darkness on the other bed and just talking to any spirits that may have been present, wasn't totally aware of the extent until Claire began to make some strange noises.

It sounded to Jay as if "something" was trying to talk through her voice box. She began making low guttural noises from her throat which together sounded like a series of ill-formed words.

In the interests of a Paranormal Investigation - Jay wanted Claire to work with whatever was impressing itself upon her, but concerned for her safety without any of the standard protections in place, he advised her to ask whatever it was, to leave her alone. After a short while, the presence left her vicinity and Claire was back to 'normal'.

Claire explained how she felt somebody with her and also told Jay that she experienced episodes like that at other times when on her own investigations. Maybe something for further study.

Group 3 Report : Wayne Carl

The bathroom was checked for any leaks from the taps. A teabag was placed on the end of the bed, as in Room 28, to try once again for movement as we had done in previously.

Wayne tried to see if he could get any response using a pendulum. The pendulum said there was a female entity and according to Wayne it was the same lady as room 28. Carl thought he heard a noise in the corner of the room near Wayne, and also a noise near the wardrobe. Carl saw a pin prick of light move from near Wayne and towards the kettle on the dressing table.

The pendulum was used again this stated that it was not the same lady as before, she would not show herself to us but would show herself tonight.

She was aware she could use our energy but would not use it. She said that Wayne and Carl were intruding on her presence when they said that they were only here to learn she understood that and said that she would help us.

When asked to move teabag she said that she was able but would not move it for us. The lady was happy with us in the room and does not want us to leave but then conflicted that with she is not happy with us in her presence.

When asked if she needed help she said no. She was asked if there was a reason for being in the room the answer was yes, but she did not meet her end in the room but passed peacefully.

Next she was asked about her age at passing younger than 30 - no, 50 - no, 70 - no, 80 - yes, 75 -no, 76 -no, 77 - yes, 78 - no, 79 - no, so the lady said she was 78 years old.

Time was getting on so the bathroom was checked once more and this time there was water around the plughole in the sink this was strange but could have been a leaking tap.

Room 30

Rooms 28, 29 and 30 could be found on the top floor of the Schooner Hotel and had the reputation - specifically Room 28 - of being the most haunted rooms in the hotel.

Each of the rooms we're identically furnished (except Room 30 which had only one bed as opposed to two in the others). Once, it was said, these rooms weren't separate and the walls in between had been added at a later date to turn one large room, into three.

Group 1 Report : Jay Claire

This was group 1's first location of the night and Jay and Claire settled themselves down and let the room quieten.

Immediately Claire, who was laying on the bed, started to report that the bottom of her legs we're cold and stated that she could smell, although slightly, the smell of ginger that she had picked up in Room 29 on an earlier walk-about. Jay confirmed that her lower legs we're colder than the rest of her.

Jay began to call out - asking that any spirit in the room would move the cold sensation to him so that he could experience it. It did appear to move to a point in the room that was between the two of them so that he could feel it down his left side.

Later, Claire got a funny feeling about the wardrobe in the room and began to examine it. She claimed she could see it as though it was 'warping' slightly and has she hovered her hands over the wooden door, she claimed she could sense little vibrations. Jay asked if any spirit could make a noise on the wardrobe - either just a knocking or a movement of the door - but nothing occurred.

Other than the cold spots, a slight smell of ginger (which Jay confirmed) and a slightly vibrating wardrobe - nothing else was experienced in this room.

Group 2 Report : Bruce Pam Dave

EDITOR : There is no group 2 report available for this location. Assume nothing of note occurred.

Group 3 Report : Wayne Carl

Again a teabag was placed on the end of a bed. Nothing was sensed at this all to start with.

Suddenly, Wayne went icy cold and felt a draught on his right hand side. Both Carl and Wayne thought this could be from the door but were not sure. Wayne felt the draught on his arm, Carl felt draught on his face and right arm.

Wayne tried the pendulum for the first time in this room and according to it, there was no presence in this room at this time. We asked if a spirit could make itself known and come forward but we weren't sure of the result. Carls? leg went cold a few minutes after this was said.

Later during the vigil, Carl went icy cold. Wayne got the sense of a man and kept stroking his top lip as if he had a moustache or beard. Wayne now sensed the man more clearly - with a beard and who was possibly a fisherman. Wayne says he is a "Captain Birdseye" look-alike, but with a more weathered furrowed brow he was slightly hunched looking.
