We've announced a new public ghost hunt that we have lined up - this time we're off to the Busby Stoop Inn near Thirsk on the 19th June, 2009.
You'll be able to join up with Northern Ghost Investigations and help us find the hanged murderer, Thomas Busby, after whom the Inn is named. In a drunken rage, Busby killed his father-in-law when they had a disagreement about money and then promptly fell asleep in a chair within the Inn.
What amounted to law enforcement at the time duly arrived and dragged Busby from the chair and later he was hung from the gallows with his body being placed in the Stoop which stood on the crossroads outside the inn where his crime was committed. The Stoop still exists outside The Busby Stoop Inn to this day.
When being hauled from his sleep - Thomas Busby shouted a curse that any who sat in the chair from which he had just been roused from his slumber they would face as quick a death as he was surely about to face. Over the years, many a brave soul sat in the very chair that Busby cursed as a challenge to the man. And many died shortly thereafter.
Sadly, the chair is now on display at Thirsk Museum - but the spirit of Thomas Busby still resides at the inn with him showing himself many times over the centuries that have passed, his head lolling to one side as his broken neck tries to hold it upright,
And on Friday 19th June, 2009 - Northtern Ghost Investigations are going back to the Busby Stoop Inn to look once more for Thomas Busby and you can be a part of our team for the night.
Just head over to our Ghost Hunts page and book your place and maybe, just maybe, Busby will pay us a visit.
And while you're there - you'll also note we've got a ghost hunt lined up back at one of our old favourites - the Castle Keep in Newcastle. We've been here a lot of times over the years and can't wait to go back as it always delivers and you can be there on the 17th July, 2009 to see what chooses to come out of the darkness this time.
After a quiet couple of months due to charity events, a few team onlys and a 3 night stay at Chillingham Castle - we're back on track and will have quite a few public ghost hunts lined up between now and the end of the year. So stick around and come and get spooked with us.
